About

One aspect of my research interests lies in (dis)ability studies, particularly surrounding narratives produced by various fields of contention. I am interested in health social movements, higher education and disability, privilege and power studies, and emerging technological trends such as online support forums.

I am also interested in critical development and indigenous studies, particularly on its intersectionality with mental health, commodification of women’s bodies, maternal and child health and infectious diseases. Using a multifaceted framework including the social, cultural and ecological determinants, I seek to examine health inequities within and across geographic regions.

Currently, my undergraduate thesis project examines individual resilience to potentially harmful health behaviours. In particular, I examine interrelationships between smoking behaviours, individual locus of control, and resistance to behaviour adoption.

My academic goal is to bridge scholarly research with social and political advocacy.
